Zusammenfassung: | Evaporative cooling, the mechanism used in zeer pots for food cooling and storage without electricity, achieves lowering of temperature of a target surface via liquid evaporation with the aid of dry air. The mechanism is ineffective for applications in regions with high humidity. The presently described evaporative cooling system addresses this limitation. The invention comprises of an evaporative chamber, a set of passive dehumidification units and a cooling container. Ambient air is dehumidified and acts as a coolant in the evaporative chamber, extracting heat from the cooled fluid that is fed to the cooling compartment. The dehumidification units absorb moisture from air and can be refreshed and dried with solar thermal energy. The flow of the cooled fluid and the coolant are driven by fans which, for off-grid applications, is powered by renewable energy. |
