A suspended ceiling hanger clip

A suspended ceiling hanger clip comprises a longitudinally extending base having a first end and a second end and a pair of generally parallel co-extensive flanges extending downwardly from the base and between which the base is located. At least one projection is located in each flange and each projection forms a ramp surface extending transversely outwardly from each respective flange. An aperture is centrally located on a pad formed in the base and is positioned equidistant from the first and second ends of the base. The clip also includes an elongate suspension rod having a longitudinal axis extending along a length between an upper end and a spaced apart lower end, and the lower end has an attachment means. The upper end of the suspension rod passes through the aperture in the base of the hanger clip and is bent through an angle of approximately 180 degrees with respect to the longitudinal axis of the suspension rod to fixedly retain the upper end from removal from the aperture in the base of the hanger clip, and an outer face of the upper end is in contact with the pad formed in the base. A suspended ceiling and a ceiling construction for suspension within a room of a building or an external ceiling and a method of constructing a suspended ceiling are also included.
