The stiffening support structure is formed of a relatively rigid material compared to the front fabric material, the stiffening support structure having a degree of flexibility in one direction such that variations in patient physiology can be accommodated in use, the stiffening support structure being stiffer in another direction generally orthogonal to the one direction to resist vertical rotation of the patient interface assembly due to weight or hose drag. The stiffening support structure projects rearwardly relative to each lateral side of the frame and has a curved shape configured to rest against the patient's cheeks and below the patient's eye in use. The front strap portions are at least partly coextensive with the stiffening support structure to form a layered structure, with the front strap portions being positioned between the stiffening support structure and the patient's skin when worn. The patient interface assembly is not provided with a chin strap. The patient interface assembly is not provided with a forehead support. |
