Zusammenfassung:	An apparatus for control of gas washout of a patient interface of a respiratory treatment apparatus comprising: a vent assembly having a variable size exhaust opening (3203) defined by a plurality of overlapping blades (3204-1, 3204-2, 3204-3, 3204-4, 3204-5, 3204-6, 3204-7, 3204-8) of the assembly; and an actuator (iris drive lever 3210) to manipulate the size of the exhaust opening of the vent assembly for vent-to-ambient flow, the actuator being coupled with the blades.
