Zusammenfassung:	Disclosed is a synthetic peptide having myostatin antagonist activity, having an amino acid sequence corresponding to at least five contiguous amino acids of a mature myostatin peptide of SEQ ID NO:1, wherein the synthetic peptide comprises at least two cysteine residues at positions 281 and 282 which are forced to bond and form a disulfide bond; wherein the sequence identity is as disclosed in the specification. Also disclosed is the use of the said peptide in regulating muscle growth.
