Zusammenfassung:Disclosed is a process for selective and direct formation of ethyl acetate from acetic acid comprising: contacting a feed stream containing acetic acid and hydrogen in the vapour phase at a temperature in the range of 200°C to 300°C with a hydrogenating catalyst containing platinum or palladium and copper or cobalt on a catalyst support, where the weight ratio of platinum or palladium to copper or cobalt is in the range of 0.1 to 1. Also disclosed is a process for selective and direct formation of ethyl acetate from acetic acid using a hydrogenating catalyst selected from nickel/molybdenum (Ni/Mo), palladium/ molybdenum (Pd/Mo), or platinum/molybdenum (Pt/Mo) supported on H-ZSM-5.
