Zusammenfassung: | Disclosed is a process for selective and direct formation of ethanol from acetic acid comprising: contacting a feed stream containing acetic acid and hydrogen in vapor phase at a temperature of 200 degrees to 300 degrees Celsius with a hydrogenating catalyst containing cobalt and a second metal on a catalyst support, wherein the cobalt is present in an amount from 0.1 weight percent to 20 weight percent, and wherein the second metal is selected from the group consisting of palladium, platinum, and chromium. |
