Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:Disclosed is alpha-Lactosamine hydrochloride, as shown in Formula 2 which contains less than 5 per cent of the beta form. Lactosamine is also known as: 4-O-beta-D-galactopyranosyl-D-glucosamine; 2-amino-2-deoxy-4-O-beta-D-galactopyranosyl-D-glucose; D-glucose, 2-amino-2-deoxy-4-O-beta-D-galactopyranosyl-; (2R,3R,4R,5R)-2-amino-3,5,6-trihydroxy-4-[(2R,3R,4S,5R,6R)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy-hexanal. Also disclosed is the monohydrate form, a composition comprising the alpha form, a method for preparing the alpha monohydrate comprising preparing a solution comprising the anomeric mixture of lactosamine hydrochloride, water and at least one aliphatic alcohol at a temperature of 0 - 100 degrees C; and cooling the solution to cause crystallisation of á-lactosamine hydrochloride monohydrate. The anhydrous form is prepared by heating the monohydrate to a temperature between 20 - 172 DEG Celsius. The compound is used as an intermediate for organic synthesis of for example human milk oligosaccharides or in a food product or beverage or food supplement.
