Precise breeding by modification of an R1, phosphorylase-L and polyphenol oxidase genes in a plant
Disclosed is a method of modifying the expression of at least two genes in a selected plant, comprising the steps of: (a) transforming at least one cell of the plant by stably integrating into the genome of the at least one cell, a desired polynucleotide that comprises at least two of: (i) an R1 gen...

Zusammenfassung: | Disclosed is a method of modifying the expression of at least two genes in a selected plant, comprising the steps of: (a) transforming at least one cell of the plant by stably integrating into the genome of the at least one cell, a desired polynucleotide that comprises at least two of: (i) an R1 gene sequence or a fragment thereof, (ii) a phosphorylase-L gene sequence or a fragment thereof, and (iii) a polyphenol oxidase gene sequence or a fragment thereof, and (b) obtaining a stably transformed plant from one or more of the transformed plant cells, wherein the stably transformed plant contains the desired polynucleotide stably integrated into its genome and whereby the endogenous expression of at least two of the endogenous R1 gene, phosphorylase-L gene, and polyphenol oxidase gene of the transformed selected plant is modified in comparison to a plant whose genome does not comprise the stably integrated desired polynucleotide. Further disclosed are plants derived from said method, food products produced from said plants and processes for reducing the accumulation of undesirable products of the maillard reaction. |
