Sports audio player and two-way voice/data communication device

Audio players and communications devices for use in sports, particularly aquatic sports such as bodyboarding, are disclosed. The device includes a housing (100) that encloses a flat panel audio transducer, and has a top panel acoustically coupled to the flat panel audio transducer. The housing is made of a material for conducting audio waves and is acoustically coupled to the top surface (51) of a body of material (50). In exemplary embodiments the body may be a bodyboard,a windsurfer board, a kayak, and the like. The device further includes a power source, electrical circuitry and an audio source connected to the flat panel audio transducer.
