Inserter for a medical infuser

An infuser for an angled infusion set comprises a set housing 1, a cannula housing 3, a needle hub 2, a spring and a carrier body 4 where the set housing 1 has internal guides 9a 9b 9c that interact with guides 9d 9e on the carrier body 4 to guide the movement of the carrier body 4. The cannula housing 3 contains a soft cannula 5 that is to be placed below the skin, and the needle hub 2 contains an insertion needle 6 for piercing the skin. The needle hub 2 and the carrier body 4 are permanently joined to each other. The cannula housing 3 and the needle hub 2 are releasably connected to each other and when they are connected the insertion needle 6 is at the end of the cannula 5. The spring is connected to a release button 7. When the button 7 is pressed, the spring forces the cannula housing 3, the needle hub 2 and the carrier body 4 to a forward position where the needle 6 and the cannula 5 can be placed intravenously. The lower part of the set housing 1 has two projections 10 that indicate the correct insertion angle of the needle 6 during insertion.
