Zusammenfassung:	A method and system that enable a utility to monitor and manage demand for a commodity, such as electricity, natural gas or water, is disclosed. The commodity is supplied to customer sites and at each site a number of devices use the commodity. The instantaneous rate at which the commodity is delivered to a subset of the customer devices is measured and sent to the utility. A program may be activated to manage the usage of the commodity by the subset of the customer devices if the utility needs to manage capacity.
