Zusammenfassung: | Use of a long chain alcohol in the preparation of a comestible product for the reduction of cholesterol in a vertebrate is disclosed, wherein the comestible product is prepared by a process comprising: (i) providing a long chain alcohol, (ii) providing an edible oil containing less than 12 wt. % linolenic acid that is substantially free of medium long chain triglycerides composed of C8 to C10 fatty acids, (iii) mixing these long chain alcohols in the edible oil to form a high molecular weight alcohol/edible oil mixture that contains less than 2 wt. % high molecular weight alcohol, is free of an emulsifier, and has a viscosity of less than 200 centipoise as measured at 70 °F at 60 revolutions per minute, and (iv) combining this mixture with other components of a comestible product.
