Zusammenfassung:	A method is provided for producing a lymphocyte or antigen presenting cell (APC) having tolerance to an allergen or antigen which method comprises incubating the lymphocyte or APC from a human or animal patient with (i) a composition capable of upregulating expression of an endogenous Notch or Notch ligand in the lymphocyte and/or APC and (ii) the allergen or antigen; wherein the composition comprises a cytokine selected from the group comprising IL-4, IL-10, IL-13, TGF-beta and FLT-3. Medicaments produced by such methods are useful in the treatment of diseases characterised by inappropriate lymphocyte activity, such as allergy, autoimmune disease, and graft rejection.
