Zusammenfassung: | An overcurrent diverter for switching fault current includes a switching element 27 with longitudinally spaced electrodes 23. Plasma is formed in the gap between the electrodes when radiant energy is supplied into the gap from a focused laser so that the space between the electrodes is rendered conductive as a high voltage is applied between the electrodes. The radiant energy is applied in two or more spots or areas 28e located along a line extending between the electrodes and corresponding to the conduction path between the electrodes, or in one or more elongated areas, the longitudinal axes of which extend along the direction or the conduction path between the electrodes. |
