Zusammenfassung:Benzene is produced from methane containing gases such as natural gas by heating the gas to a temperature of from about 1300 K to 1800 K and then contacting the hot gas with from about 0.7 to 10 volume percent oxygen in a reaction zone for a time sufficient to form a benzene containing product and then quenching the mixture of product and unreacted gas. The oxygen and methane are separatly introduced into the reaction zone.
