Zusammenfassung:	The anchor rod for mine supports consists of a long rod made of glass fibre reinforced polyester resin (3) carrying a collar (6) of the same material. The end of the rod inside the collar is split and carries a wedge (2). The diameter of the collar is just under the diameter of the hole in the rock so that it can be easily inserted, then when the face of the collar reaches the end of the hole, the other end of the rod is struck. The collar has a slit along its side, and the striking action causes the wedge to expand the collar which grips the end of the rod and holds it in the hole due to the expansion.
