The mouthpiece comprises rod-end 14, middle 16 and mouth-end 18 filter portions in axial alignment with each other rendered generally impermeable over their peripheral surfaces. The middle portion includes a perforate tube 26, open at both ends. The filter mouthpiece may be ventilated.
