Zusammenfassung:	An apparatus and a method for removing a component from, or placing a component on, an underwater valve comprises a base attachable to the flowline that carries the valve, and a two part assembly having a gantry that is aligned and mounted on the base and a sliding frame placed in sliding engagement with the gantry. The sliding frame guides the component towards or away from the underwater valve, after the gantry is properly aligned with respect to the valve by its connection to the base.
