Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a process for producing an insulating layer on the top of an oil container. The insulating layer comprises a heat-insulating material (7) which is covered over by a plastic cladding sheet (8) which is impermeable to water. Members for fixing the cladding are provided. The fastening members are screwing pegs (3) which are fixedly welded on the upper part (1) of the oil container at one end and are provided with an external thread at the other end. The pegs are fixedly welded to the underlying surface by means of a welding gun before the insulating material is attached. After the insulating material has been drawn over the pegs, the cladding sheet is drawn over the pegs. Finally, plates (9) are screwed onto the pegs (3). If appropriate, the fastening members may comprise screwing pegs (15), sleeves (14) and rods (15) which are provided with an external thread at both ends and, together with the plates (9), fix the cladding sheet in place.
