Zusammenfassung:	A process for the preparation of metoprolol or 1isopropylamino-3-(4-(2-methoxy)ethylphenoxy)-2-propanol wherein 3-(4-(2-methoxy)ethyl)phenoxy-1,2-propanediol is reacted with thionyl chloride in dichlormethane in the presence of triethylamine to form 4-(4-((2-methoxy-ethyl)phenoxy)methyl)-1,3,2-dioxathiolane-2-oxide < IMG > which is then reacted with isopropylamine in acetonitrile.
