Zusammenfassung:	A fair-lead sheave and connector 17 for attaching a wire rope 14 to a chain 18 and training it over the fair-lead sheave for vessels such as an offshore semi-submersible drilling platform are disclosed. The sheave has a generally V-shaped groove with its maximum effective width approximately equal to the width of the chain with which it is to be used. The connector 17 is frusto- conical and adapted to lie in the groove and has a bail at one end thereof. The connector 17 engages the groove along substantially the entire length of the connector, the maximum diameter of the connector being approximately equal to the maximum width of the groove.
