Zusammenfassung:Prodn. of compact, smooth, corrosion-resistant ferrosilicon particles for use as a weighing suspension in the float-sink processing of ores is improved in that irregularly shaped ferrosilicon particles are passed in an inert gas stream through an electric arc or plasma jet, whereby the particles are melted at least superficially and rounded off. Subsequently the particles are passed through a cooling zone, and then collected in, e.g., a cyclone. The inert carrier gas is pref. H2, He, Ar, N2 or their mixts.
