A surface wiring system comprises six aluminium conductors 1 embedded in an insulating core which is laid along floors, ceilings and doorways of buildings, and is closed by a snapon cover 9. The core has projections 2, 4, 5 resting against the building surface to which the core is attached by screws or nails. The cover has a projection 11 engaging the space between projection 4 and the topmost conductor, and has a lug 8 (or 12) snapping over a projection 7 or 6. Joins between core sections are backed by plates having lugs engaging the spaces between projections 2, 4 and 2, 5 respectively (Figs. 5-8, not shown). Corner pieces (33, 34) over the covers may be secured by clips (35) engaging spaces 3 in the cores (Figs. 9-10, not shown), and joints between corners are closed by plates (36) similarly secured by clips (37) (Figs. 11, 12, not shown).
