Zusammenfassung: | 1,115,976. Sawing. MO OCH DOMSJO, AKTIEBOLAG. 6 July, 1966 [7 July, 1965] No. 30391/66. Heading B5L. Apparatus for sawing logs or the like of varying diameter into lengths comprises a rotatable support frame 5 for the logs to be sawn having a plurality of gripping assemblies 7 mounted for rotation therewith, each assembly having a movable jaw 16 shaped to receive and adjustably grip a log which is positioned parallel to the axis of rotation of the frame, means to move the log axially of the frame to a selected position, and sawing means 54 for cutting a log held on the frame as the frame is rotated. The frame is mounted for rotation in cantilever manner in a bearing 4 on a bed 1 supported on wheels 2. One part of the frame 5 comprises a receiving section consisting of beams 52 extending from the bearing and joined to transverse plates 53. A second part of the frame comprises a delivery section which is disposed between the bearing 4 and a bearing 3 for rotation with the receiving section and consists of beams 42 connected to support plates 51. The saw blade 54 is carried by a pedestal 9 adjustable to permit cutting of the logs at predetermined angles. The gripping assemblies 7 are aligned in rows adjacent the beams 52 and each comprises a yoke 20, Fig. 6, supported by a pair of rods 36 slidable in guides 46 on a beam 52, the yoke being movable by a gear drive or fluid motor 18 so that a pair of V-shaped rollers 19 mounted on an arm 16 extending from the yoke are moved towards or away from a V-shaped roller 21 which is mounted on the support plate 53 and is rotated by a motor 22 through a transmission 23. The gripping assemblies 7 on the receiving section of the frame face in the direction of rotation of the frame while those on the delivery section face in the opposite direction. When a log is gripped by the assemblies, the motors 22 can be operated to move the log axially to a stop 10, there being a stop aligned with each row of gripping assemblies. Each stop consists of a carriage 37, Fig. 7, having wheels 40, 41 for engagement with the beams 42 and a member 17 for abutment by the log. The carriage may be moved to a position determined by the operator of the machine whereupon a motor 35 is actuated to cause a catch 32 to engage a selected stop 34 on a rod 60 which then moves axially against a spring 50 to operate a switch 55 controlling the motors 22 advancing the log. In an alternative embodiment the stop is located in position by catches controlled by |
