Zusammenfassung:	A method of operating a deformable transducer array comprises the steps of transmitting a reference signal from a control transceiver T to each of the transducer elements E1 to E7 of the array, and transmitting a message signal which is modulated onto the reference signal from each of the transducer elements E1 to E7 to the control transceiver T or from the control transceiver T to each of the transducer elements, in dependence upon whether the message signal is to be received or transmitted by, said transducers. The transmissions enables the correction of phase errors due to misalignment of the array from its nominal shape.
