Zusammenfassung:	Systems and methods are provided for producing a composite part. Methods include laying up a preform onto a mandrel defining a contour for a composite part, and onto a portion of the mandrel located beyond the boundaries of the composite part, and hardening the preform into the composite part With indexing features formed therein. Some methods further include indexing the composite part to a work station via indexing features. Systems include a mandrel having a layup region that defines a contour for a composite part and surface features in a manufacturing excess region. Apparatus includes a mandrel having a layup region for laying up a preform for a composite part having a final perimeter, a manufacturing excess region disposed beyond the final perimeter, and surface features in the region to form indexing features onto the preform. Preforms include indexing features formed into a manufacturing excess thereof.
