The dosing unit may comprise a pusher that is configured to push forage out of said input receptacle, and a chipper that is configured to chip the forage, Wherein more preferably the input receptacle is configured to receive at least a part of a forage bale, the pusher is configured to push a layer of forage off an end of said forage bale, and the chipper is configured to chip the layer of forage.
