Photosensitive cell, photosenstive sensor comprising photosensitve cells and method of operating the same

The invention relates to a photosensitive sensor for capturing images of a scene, the sensor comprising photosensitive cells, each cell comprising a CCD shift register configured to convert incoming light into charge, collecting the charge and transporting the collected charge towards a CMOS readout circuit or to an adjacent photosensitive cell, and a CMOS readout circuit configured to read out the CCD shift register and to provide a photosensitive cell signal. The invention also relates to a method of converting light and collecting charge in the shift registers of a first column, reading out the CCD shift registers of the first column to provide a first photosensitive cell signal, converting light and collecting charge in the shift registers of a second column, transferring the charge collected at the shift registers of the second column towards the shift registers of a further column, converting light and collecting charge in the shift registers of the further column, and reading out the CCD shift registers of the further column to provide a further photosensitive cell signal.
