A stand for a string instrument with a neck and a body, the stand comprising a frame and one or more arms connected to the frame, said one or more arms arranged for retaining the instrument in a fixed position, whereby the stand comprises a first arm connected to a first side of the frame, whereby the first arm is arranged for being rotatable around a first shaft which is comprised in the frame, said first arm comprising an upper part at the outer side of the first shaft and a lower part at the inner side of the first shaft, said first arm further arranged for being rotatable, such that the upper part is rotated upwards around the first shaft towards the body when the lower part rotates downwards around the first shaft. The arms comprising optionally additional supporting hands.
