Zusammenfassung: | In accordance to one aspect, the present invention relates to a dielectrophoretic, microfluidic apparatus (100) for use in detection, characterization, manipulation and isolation of ESKAPE pathogens (200a) disposed in a microfluidic sample of fluid (200). The apparatus (100) comprises at least one pair of tapered microelectrodes (105) disposed on a substrate (106), the substrate (106) and the pair of tapered microelectrodes (105) delineating a cavity (107) capable of retention of a microfluidic sample of fluid (200) and accommodating flow of said microfluidic sample of fluid (200); wherein the at least one pair of tapered microelectrodes (105) are connected to an alternating current (A.C) power supply (108) configured to provide A.C electrical power at at a voltage ranging from 5 V (peak to peak) to 10 V (peak to peak) and a frequency at or about any one of the frequencies of 0.62 MHz, 0.69 MHz, 0.76 MHz, 0.91 MHz, 1.07 MHz, and 1.17 MHz which correspond to cross-over frequencies unique to ESKAPE pathogens (200a). |
