APPARATUS FOR PROTECTING CABLE

An apparatus for protecting a cable (1), which comprises: a covering (2), capable of being wrapped around the cylindrical surface of the cable (1), along which at least one wire (3) is helically embedded; and a means (4) for clamping the covering (2) onto the cable (1) adjacent each end of the covering (2), said clamping means (4) includes: an arcuate member (5), one side of said member (5) having at least one bored ridge (7), and the other side of the member (5) having at least one tooth-like projection (8), in proximity to each projection (8) a fastener-receiving hole (9) is disposed; and a mating arcuate member (6), one side of said member (6) having at least one bored ridge (10), and the other side of the member (6) having at least one projection-receiving perforation (11), in proximity to each perforation (11) a fastener-receiving hole (12) is disposed; wherein said members (5, 6) are mated in a way such that: one ridge is disposed in adjacent to another ridge, both the bores (13, 14) and the holes (9, 12) being aligned respectively, such that a pivot (15) is capable of being inserted into the aligned bores (13, 14), each projection (8) fitted into a perforation (11), and a fastener (16) inserted into each set of aligned holes (9, 12) to fasten the members (5, 6) to each other.
