Process for manufacturing dichloropropanol wherein a glycerol-based product comprising at least one diol containing at least 3 carbon atoms other than 1,2-propanediol, is reacted with a chlorinating agent, and of products derived from dichloropropanol such as epichlorohydrin and epoxy resins.
