APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR CLASSIFYING TELEPHONE CALLS AND TELEPHONE USERS

An apparatus (100) for classifying a telephone call is configured to detect connection of a telephone call from a first calling party (106) to a second calling party (108), the second calling party configured to receive the telephone call in an ISDN service. The apparatus detects secondary dialling information in the telephone call, the secondary dialling information being dialled by the first calling party. The apparatus classifies the telephone call from the secondary dialling information in the telephone call. An apparatus (300) for classifying a telephone user (306) is configured to make a test call to the telephone user, the telephone user receiving the test call in an ISDN service. The apparatus detects a response from the telephone user to the test call and, in dependence of a nature of the response from the telephone user to the test call, the apparatus classifies the telephone user as a user to be monitored.
