IN AT LEAST SOME INSTANCE, THE THERMAL TRANSFER ELEMENT ALSO INCLUDES A LIGHT-TO-HEAT CONVERSION (LTHC) LAYER THAT CAN CONVERT LIGHT ENERGY TO HEAT ENERGY TO TRANSFER THE MULTICOMPONENT TRANFER UNIT. TRANSFERING THE MULTICOMPONENT TRANSFER UNIT TO THE RECEPTOR MAY INCLUDE CONTACTING A RECEPTOR WITH A THERMAL ELEMENT HAVING A SUBSTRADE (102, 122,142,162) AND A MULTICOMPONENT TRANSFER UNIT(110, 122,142,162). THEN, THE THERMAL TRANFER ELEMENT IS SELECTIVELY HEATED TO TRANFER THE MULTICOMPONENT TRANSFER UNTI TO THE RECEPTOR ACCORDING TO A PATTERN TO FORM AT LEAST FIRST AND SECOND OPERATIONAL LAYERS OF A DEVICE.
