ALTERNATIVELY THE IONIC LIQUID MAY BE IMMOBILISHED BBY HAVING THE CATION COVALENTLY BOUND TO THE SUPPORT, E.G. THROUGH SILYL GROUPS, OR INCORPORATED IN THE SUPPORT BY SYNTHESISING THE SUPPORT IN THE PRESENCE OF A SUITABLE BASE.
