Zusammenfassung:The present invention refers to an electrode characterized in that it uses a saline solution for performing electrocardiographic recordings in animals known as minor species, which are useful in biomedical research laboratories. The electrode enables variations in electrocardiographic patterns to be studied in time and in a single animal. A recording system used in clinics or a polygraph may be indistinctly used provided that a suitable signal converter is available. The method consists in fastening a finger cut from a latex glove to each leg of the animal which is subsequently filled with the saline solution at 5X (sodium chloride hypertonic solution, 4.5 gr. of NaCl per each 100 ml.), the legs thus being immersed into the solution along with a silver electrode, so that the saline liquid medium allows each member of the animal to be into contact with the electrodes of an electrocardiograph commonly used in a cardiology clinic. The inventive electrode, which is not currently available on the market, is easily placed including easily obtainable elements; which may allow research biological models to be projected within the experimental cardiology field, which have not been described so far. Furthermore, the use of the inventive electrode will confirm or discard some statements accepted so far.
