Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates generally to naphthyridine derivatives of the formula wherein one of U, X, Y and Z is nitrogen and the others are C-R, where R is hydrogen or a substituent. More specifically, the invention relates to 1,8-naphthyridine derivatives and pharmaceutical compositions containing such derivatives. Methods of the invention comprise administration of a naphthyridine derivative of the invention for the treatment of diabetes and related disorders. La invencion se refiere, en general, a derivados de naftiridina de la formula (ver formula) en la cual uno de U, X, Y y Z es Nitrogeno y los otros son C-R, donde R es hidrogeno o un sustituyente. Mas especificamente, la invencion se refiere a derivados de 1,8-naftiridina y a composiciones farmaceuticas que contienen dichos derivados. Los metodos de la invencion comprenden la administracion de un derivado de naftiridina de la invencion para el tratamiento de la diabetes y trastornos relacionados.
