Zusammenfassung: | The invention relates to a method for the epoxidation of an organic compound comprising at least one C-C double bond, using hydrogen peroxide in the presence of at least one catalytically active compound and at least one solvent. Said method is characterised in that a product mixture containing agr;-hydroperoxy alcohols is reduced using at least one reductant. The invention also relates to a method for the epoxidation of an organic compound comprising at least one C-C double bond, using hydrogen peroxide in the presence of at least one catalytically active compound and at least one solvent, characterised in that said method comprises at least the following steps: (i) an organic compound comprising at least one C-C double bond is reacted with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of at least one catalytically active compound and at least one solvent to obtain a product mixture P1 containing agr;-hydroperoxy alcohols; (ii) an epoxide that has been obtained by the reaction in step (i) is separated from P1 or P1 , together with the non-converted organic compound comprising at least one C-C double bond, to obtain a product mixture P2 or P2 , P2 containing the agr;-hydroperoxy alcohols that have occurred as by-products in the reaction in step (i) and P2 being substantially devoid of agr;-hydroperoxy alcohols. (iii) at least one reductant is added to P1 and/or P2, whereby the agr;-hydroperoxy alcohols are converted into corresponding glycols, obtained in a product mixture P1 or P3.
