SYSTEM FOR CONSTRICTING A TUBE WALL

An apparatus for constricting an end of a metallic tube (or worktube) to form an arcuate-walled portion that has an outer surface is provided. The apparatus comprises a means (2) for rotating the tube (7) on its axis, a movable means (4A, 4B) for heating an end portion of the tube, and a forming rolling means (6, 8). The forming rolling means includes a forming roller (78) adapted for applying pressure on the end portion of the tube along successive lines of contact to constrict progressively the end of the tube. The movement of the forming rolling means is orchestrated with the movement of the means of heating. In a preferred embodiment, each line of contact has a substantially straight portion. Se proporciona un aparato para constreñir un extremo de un tubo (o tubo a trabajar) metálico para formar una porcion de pared arqueada. El aparato comprende un medio (2) para hacer girar (rotar) el tubo (7) alrededor de su eje, un medio movil (4A, 4B) para calentar una porcion extrema del tubo, y un medio conformador por rodillo (6,8). El medio conformador por rodillo incluye un rodillo formador (78) adaptado para aplicar presion sobre la porcion extrema del tubo a lo largo de líneas de contacto sucesivas, para constreñir progresivamente el extremo del tubo. El movimiento del medio conformador por rodillo esta orquestado con el movimiento del medio de calentamiento. En una forma de realizacion preferida, cada línea de contacto posee una porcion sustancialmente recta.
