La presente invención se refiere a muteínas del factor de crecimiento de fibroblastos humano (FGF-1) que tienen mitogenicidad disminuida, dímeros de muteínas de FGF-1 humanas, así como tales muteínas de FGF-1 humanas y dímeros de tales muteínas para su uso en la reducción del nivel de glucosa en sangre, particularmente para su uso en el tratamiento de la diabetes.
