Also disclosed are methods of creating synthetic viruses for targeting cancerous tumors. Se describen métodos para inhibir o reducir el crecimiento de tumores. Una composición que contiene al menos un virus oncolítico seleccionado se administra dentro de un tumor de un paciente. El virus mata las células cancerosas e induce una inmunidad antitumoral sistémica y duradera que también es compatible con otros tratamientos para el cáncer. También se describen métodos para crear virus sintéticos para atacar tumores cancerosos.
