La presente invención se refiere a un alcaloide indólico, específicamente el alcaloide ((3S,3aR,8aS)-3-butil-5-hidroxi-3,3a, 8a-trimetil-3,3a,8,8a-tetrahidro-2H-furo[2,3-b]indol-2-ona, denominado de forma genérica como Andranona, como agente anticancerígeno con alta citotoxicidad contra células neoplásicas de cáncer de colon, cáncer de mama, leucemia, cáncer de sistema nervioso central, cáncer de próstata, cáncer de pulmón y cáncer cérvico uterino.
