THE USE OF AN OIL-BASED COMPOSITION FOR REDUCING AMMONIA VOLATILIZATION IN UREA-BASED FERTILIZER APPLICATION

Use of an oil-based composition comprising boron-containing particles, for the reduction of ammonia volatilization upon application of urea-based fertilizer particles to soil, wherein the urea-based fertilizer particles are coated with the oil-based composition comprising boron-containing particles prior to their application to soil; characterized in that the boron-containing particles essentially consist of a material with a low water solubility of less than 10 g/L at 25°C; and at least 95 % of the boron-containing particles have a particle size in the range of 0.1 and 60 um, as measured by laser diffraction analysis. La invención se refiere al uso de una composición basada en aceite que comprende partículas que contienen boro, para la reducción de la volatilización del amoníaco al aplicar las partículas de fertilizante que contienen urea al suelo, en donde las partículas de fertilizante que contienen urea se recubren con una composición basada en aceite que comprende partículas que contienen boro antes de su aplicación al suelo. Las partículas que contienen boro consisten esencialmente en un material con una baja solubilidad en agua menor de 10 g/l a 25°C; y por lo menos el 95% de las partículas que contienen boro tiene un tamaño de las partículas en el rango de entre 0,1 y 60 µm, según se mide mediante el análisis por difracción láser.
