Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a recombinant protein PP2C from Leishmania Mexicana (LmxPP2C), immunogenic and recognized by antibodies present in the serum of people infected with leishmaniasis caused by the parasite Leishmania Mexicana. Said protein is functional as a marker of the severity of the lesion caused and as an integral part of a vaccine composition to protect against leishmaniasis. La presente invención se encuentra relacionada con una proteína recombinante PP2C de Leishmania mexicana (LmxPP2C), siendo dicha proteína inmunogénica y que es reconocida por anticuerpos presentes en suero de personas infectadas con leishmaniasis provocada por el parásito Leishmania mexicana. La proteína de la presente invención puede ser utilizada como marcador de severidad de la lesión ocasionada por leishmaniasis, y como parte integral de una composición vacunal para proteger contra la leishmaniasis.
