Zusammenfassung:	A method for the thermal treatment by plasma of an austenitic stainless steel, which comprises the step of thermal treatment by plasma of an austenitic stainless steel in a temperature range of from about 470°C to about 490°C, for a period of time of 1 hour, at a pressure of 267 Pa, in a gas atmosphere of Nitrogen and Hydrogen at a low pressure at a current density of 1.5 mA/cm2 that promotes the formation of a superficial austenitic layer free of chromium nitride. Un método de tratamiento térmico por plasma de un acero inoxidable austenítico comprende la etapa de tratamiento térmico por plasma de un acero inoxidable austenítico en un rango de temperatura de 470°C a 490°C, durante un tiempo de 1 hr., a una presióin de 267 Pa, en una atmósfera gaseosa de Nitrógeno e Hidrógeno a baja presión a una densidad de corriente de 1.5 mA/cm2 que promueve la formación de una capa austenita superficial libre de nitruros de Cromo.
