Zusammenfassung: | The Integral System for Evaluating Tools for fast Development of Applications in Visual Environments (MECHDAV Methodology for the Technical Evaluation of the Quality of the Tools for Developing Applications in Visual Environments, model and tool), is based on the standards ISO/IEC9126 and 14598 (SQUARE Project), IEEE 1061 and other models, only in one part of its structure, to generate a standardized model. The Integral System may perform the technique evaluation of the RAD (Applications Rapid Development) tools in the visual environment, where commercial products (IDE: Integrated Development Environment) are evaluated, taking as reference basic elements of said standards (with novel adaptations since the access to the source code of the products is restricted). The integral system is intended to evaluate the quality in Use of the RAD tools, performing certain measurements in the main parameters, guided by the international standards of measurements of software, in terms of its qualit y characteristics, which are intended to be adapted to evaluate each of these tools, according to some of the software applications that can be performed, having four quality and measurement levels: characteristics/sub characteristics/attributes/ metric-measurements. The User performs the evaluation and the measurements, in which formulae or mathematical equations, called metrics, are applied. Three different metrics are presented: A) direct instructions of the user for performing a specific task. B) Direct queries, where the existence (presence of the tool) and/or characteristics thereof are determined. C) The measurements or metrics, based on specific indicators, according to the performance of any of the specific tasks. The study cases selected for the tool tests are the commercial visual platforms (IDE): Visual Studio.Net, Net Beans, Eclipse, in different versions. The result thus obtained, by the technique evaluation, is a small difference percentage (of only 2%) obtained in the evaluation of the quality that exhibits each commercial IDE, which was the following: a classification level of the quality obtained as a Satisfactory in Visual Studio.Net (89%) and Excellent in Net Beans (91%) and Eclipse (93%), whereby either of the three aforementioned visual environments is technically considered as highly advisable for making developments of applications. Whereby, if a decision has to be made about the acquisition of any of said environments, other important parameters shoul |
