The adhesive tape comprises a carrier (10) having a top face and a bottom face, an adhesive layer (11), and a sheetlike liner (12). The carrier has a width based on a transverse direction. The adhesive layer is applied on the bottom face of the carrier. The sheetlike liner: has a width based on the transverse direction, where the width is greater than or equal to the width of the carrier; and is applied on an open side of the adhesive layer. The liner comprises an offset having a width relative to the carrier in transverse direction. A ratio of the width of the carrier to the width of the liner is 1:1. The width of the offset is 0.5 width of the carrier. An independent claim is included for an elongate material such as cable harness.
