AIR PURIFIER

The present invention is an air purifier including an ionizing assembly that operates to charge particulate material in an air flow passing through the purifier. The charged particulate material is attracted to and retained by a filter element disposed downstream of the ionization assembly and having an electrical charge opposite to the charged particulate material. The purified air passing through the filter is directed out of the device, optionally in conjunction with a fragrance that is added to the purified air flow. The ionizing assembly is formed with a ground member disposed adjacent the ionizing member to keep the electrons generated by the ionizing assembly within the purifier, and thus prevent static discharges from occurring outside of the purifier. The air flow is directed by a fan through the purifier in an angular and substantially laminar manner, such that the efficiency of the purifier is increased. La presente invencion es un purificador de aire que incluye un montaje de ionizacion que opera para cargar material particulado en un flujo de aire que pasa a traves del purificador. El material particulado cargado es atraido a y retenido por un elemento filtrante colocado corriente abajo del montaje de ionizacion y que tiene una carga electrica opuesta al material particulado cargado. El aire purificado que pasa a traves del filtro se dirige afuera del dispositivo, opcionalmente en conjuncion con una fragancia que se agrega al flujo de aire purificado. El montaje de ionizacion es formado con un miembro puesto a tierra adyacente el miembro de ionizacion para mantener los electrones generados por el montaje de ionizacion dentro del purificador, y asi evitar las descargas estaticas que ocurren fuera del purificador. El flujo de aire es dirigido por un ventilador a traves del purificador de una manera angular y sustancialmente laminar, tal que la eficacia del purificador es incrementada.
