Zusammenfassung:	La presente invención se refiere a un método para inhibir el crecimiento de algas en un sistema acuoso, que comprende la etapa de poner en contacto las algas con un polímero de poli(dicloruro de oxi-etilen(diumetiliminio)hidroxipropilen(dimetiliminio)etileno), que tiene la fórmula: en la cual n es un número entero en el márgen de 4 a 40, aproximadamente, dicho polímero está presente en una cantidad efectiva para inhibir el crecimiento de las algas. A method of inhibiting the growth and/or proliferation of algae in an aqueous system which comprises incorporating in the system an effective amount of a poly[oxyethylene(dialkylimino)hydroxypropylene-(dialkylimino)ethylene di chloride] polymer having the formula: wherein R is alkyl, the R groups being the same or different, but preferably being the same and most preferably methyl, and n is an integer in the range of about 4 to about 40.
